PAL Toronto's Supporting Cast has been a part of the Performing Arts Lodges (PAL) Toronto, since its inception. It is a volunteer driven committee that focuses on assisting PAL members so that they can continue to lead meaningful, independent lives in their own homes. These services include: assistance in dealing with community agencies and health care providers, rides to medical appointments, running impromptu errands and light housekeeping. Volunteers may offer companionship and a friendly sympathetic ear, but also serve to check in with members who live alone. PAL Toronto's Supporting Cast organizes monthly events that allow solitary members to get together with their peers. It also runs the PAL's Pantry which is an outreach food bank program. An essential service ensuring that our residents who are in need of assistance do not go hungry.
Supporting Cast, with a strong commitment to high ethical and professional standards makes a significant contribution to the well being of our residents at PAL Toronto. Remaining in touch with residents has been important in helping improve services to those that require them. Any concerns or improvements to the already vital Supporting Cast can be offered and or discussed with our on-site Health Services Coordinator. Our motto is "Caring for Our Own”. ![]() Thank You Again MAZON Canada
MAZON Canada supports food projects across the country. Last summer their Allocations Committee awarded PAL’s PANTRY a grant in the amount of $1,435. On March 18th Director, Izzy Waxman, emailed PAL Toronto asking How can we help? They were trying to learn how to mobilize their network in response to the pandemic and needed to know how food aid is affected across Canada. Sharing details of how PAL's Health Service Coordinator, Bryann Muirhead, is an incredible asset, particularly in response to COVID-19. We provided a list of ten ways PAL's Pantry and PAL Toronto residents are affected. Mr. Waxman responded "As COVID-19 made it so hard for so many people to afford and access safe, nutritious food, the Jewish community swarmed to us (MAZON Canada) to help...one of our slogans is "When Canadians go hungry, the Jewish community cares..." On April 30th PAL's Pantry received a cheque for $1,000. Thank you MAZON Canada for your swift action and generosity to PAL's Pantry. Rochelle Porter, Chair Fund Development |
