Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why would I want to be a member of PAL Toronto?
A: PAL Toronto membership allows you to have a say in how PAL Toronto and PAL Place are run. You also have a vote in the affairs of the national PAL Canada Foundation.
Q: How is my $20 annual membership fee spent?
A: A portion of the fee goes to PAL Canada to assist with administrative expenses, the publication Palingenesis, audit and legal expenses and seed money for all PAL projects. The major portion of PAL Toronto's share of the fee is used to support the work of Supporting Cast at PAL Place, plus some administrative and legal expenses.
Q: Isn't membership just for residents of PAL Place?
A: PAL has members all over the country. Some belong to PAL in Calgary, Stratford, Vancouver or Halifax where new buildings are planned. Others just wish to show support by adding strength to our unique organization.
Q: Isn't this the same as the resident's association?
A: All who live at PAL Place are automatically members of the Residents' Association, but this group is mainly concerned with internal social affairs. PAL Toronto sets strategy and manages the building against a pre-determined set of objectives under its charitable status.
Q: Do I have to serve on a committee if I join PAL?
A: Many members do volunteer to serve on committees that work to help all of us, but this is not mandatory. Residents' Association committees and Board committees work together to ensure PAL Place runs smoothly at all times.
